    Jaded? I am

    Well I guess I could be ovetired but there just seems to be so much depressing stuff going on in the world. I don’t know why things happening on the other side of the world matter to me but I’m a bit of a news freak. I attribute that to 8 years at a newspaper. But just reading the stories I just feel like we’re all on a downward spiral. Terrorism is taking away our rights and hightening our fears and distrust. People seem to be dying everywhere. The climate is turning to guano. Everyone is fighting. Islam this, islam that. In New Zealand, child abuse seems to be at an all time high and the polititians are having punchups in parliament. I just hate seeing the face of another child who has been killed. Try to find something lighter, and you only find cruel gossip about some faded musician having a major personal crisis (Britney). Everything just seems so stark. Makes sense that fluffy movies like High School Musical and the Pixar line are so popular. An escape from reality - where (usually) no-one gets blown up. They just seem a little meaningless lately. I don’t know, for a start lock Bush and Iran’s Ahmadinejad in a room together for a month and see if they come out with the same predjudices. Phew, I need sleep. Maybe I’ll go watch Ratatouille.
